THE MAN ON PLATFORM 4 (BOOK)

I
found this a a lighthearted, fun
tale centered around three strong
and different characters. Eupheme
Betterment's mission to turn
geeky trainspotter Ian into a man
even her high class, fussy
(engaged!) sister would fancy has
many highs and lows. From
Eupheme's growing attraction to
her subject to the tragic and
grisly death of Ian's mother, I
felt every emotion throughout the
story! I found myself wanting
Eupheme and Ian to get together,
feeling sorry for the way Ian's
life has been turned upside down
and I loved to hate Gresham,
whilst also admiriring her
strength of charcter. There's
nothing like a good bitch!! The
firey relationship between the
sisters is brilliant. Of course
there is the odd Red Dwarf
reference here and there, Ian's a
fan of the show ( a man of good
taste!) and an avid autograph
collecter, giving Robert the
opportunity to name drop some of
his celeb mates!! Generally when
I read books, I try to imagine
them as a movie, and I think this
would work. |
I did
read somewhere that it was a possibility
but never heard much after that which is
a shame. Robert's sensitive and realistic
attention to detail and people makes this
an enjoyable read suitable for
everyone. This is hailed by some as
Roberts best work and I would have to
agree whole heartedly. The constantly
twists and turns in this story make it a
compelling read that is hard to put down.
If you
still haven't managed to get yourself
along to a bookshop to buy this then why
not!? GO BUY IT NOW!
You're
missing a real treat!
