back in the red: DOUG NAYLOR INTERVIEW
Doug Naylor recently spoke to Film Force about the prospect of new Dwarf:

Hated by Rob Grant and Rob who used to run the website Red Dwarf World Firstly thanks must go to Talkie from the BTLi Fan Forum for bringing this news to our attention and also mention that yes, this story has already appeared on Ganymede & Titan. Doug was interviewed by Film Force about the Red Dwarf Movie, DVDs and so on.

Many people may not have been very impressed by Dougs solo Dwarf work, but then again, look at Rob Grants done since leaving the small rouge one, pretty much cack all of any note, cept Incompetence.

Doug seems very pleased with the feedback he's got from the movie script but much to the disappointment of us fans, himself and the cast, he just can't seem to get the damn thing made:

"
Well, the original reason to go to Australia was because I was told there was money in place to make the movie. So we came over to look at some facilities and do an Australian budget, which we did. And then the money from the UK fell through – and then I'm back there now because I was told for the second time that the money was going to be forthcoming, and again it fell through. So now I'm waiting, being promised that money for the budget will materialize… But if there's anyone out there with ?13 million, please give me a ring and I can put good use to it."

The good feedback in ways is a good thing, but obviously we don't know if he's just saying that so someone will inject the cash needed, though if it is as good as he believes then we have alot to look forward to if it does ever get made! To quote:

"The best jokes just won't die, and even when I cut them, people scream and shout, "
No! That's got to go back in!" There's one sequence that people have gone, "No no no, it slows the story down," and I keep cutting that particular sequence – and people just won't allow it to be cut, because it appears to be universally loved".

All we can do is sit and wait and hope and further good news is that he doesn't wholely write off a return to TV one day, firstly he'd go do something else but leaving open a return will please a fair few fans:

"I wouldn't come back and do the series immediately, I don't think. If we can't do the film, I would go nuts if I then came back and did the TV series, because it would feel like – I had this script, and now we can't do this script, and we're now having to do this other one. So I'd want to probably go away and do something new"
